The International Expandable Users Group Association (IEUGA) staged its annual Expandable Users Conference May 17-19, 2009 at the Renaissance Long Beach Hotel in Long Beach, CA. The conference, titled Expandability 2009, brought together Expandable personnel, customers and business partners for three days of roundtable discussions, learning sessions, networking events and presentations.

The theme of Expandability 2009 was "Power Surge," drawing attention to the fact that users group participation is a key factor in developing power users at Expandable customer sites.
“We were a bit nervous going into the planning for this year’s conference because many companies have cut back expenses by banning travel, which would directly affect conference participation,” said Jan Young, president of the IEUGA. “Our plan was to promote attendance by maximizing the business value of the conference. We chose to provide that value by concentrating session content on sharing the expertise of our power users."
Session content was arranged in three tracks: Power Moves, Power Tools and Power Reporting. The Power Moves track focused on sharing the techniques practiced by the most experienced Expandable users. The Power Tools track was built around exploring the more advanced features of the Expandable system. The Power Reporting track was aimed at helping Expandable users get the most out of the various reporting and analysis tools available in the system, including customization techniques. |
“Fortunately the Expandable user base realizes the value of the annual conference and we were able to complete a successful event in spite of the current challenging economic environment,” stated Jan Young.
Conference activities kicked off on Sunday May 17th with a "meet and greet" welcome reception hosted by Expandable Software, Inc. Conference breakout sessions filled the next two days, covering a range of topics including presentations by Expandable customers, Expandable support personnel and Expandable business partners.
Expandable president Bob Swedroe began day two of the conference by delivering an address to the user base outlining the results of a recent customer requirements survey and Expandable’s rollout strategy for subsequent products releases, integration tools and enhancements.
A mid-conference dinner party brought conference attendees together for an entertaining Monte Carlo Night Mixer party. "We decided to scale back our dinner party this year to reduce exposure to the potential economic impact on attendance, but still ended up with a very successful event,” said IEUGA board member Bill Cowley. “The Monday Night Mixer turned out to be really fun while providing an opportunity for the group to mingle and network while vying to win a Nintendo Wii, Apple iPod and other great prizes.”
The annual Expandable User Conference is sponsored by the International Expandable Users Group Association (IEUGA), an independent, non-profit organization who's mission is to promote the exchange of information between users of Expandable Software, Inc.'s ERP system for growing manufacturers. The IEUGA is run by Expandable customers who volunteer their time to sit on the board of directors.
